Singin' and Dancin'
So after all the auditioning and worrying and drinking (what!? The drinking just happened to coincide with the Musical-related stuff) and Auditioning After Drinking (I can't believe I totally made up my own lyrics to All That Jazz and got them to work... Somehow I actually got my mother's genes!), we had first rehearsal.
The musical this year is going to be Guys and Dolls, the story of a bunch of gamblers, and the women who love them. I am playing Miss Adelaide, the fiance (for 14 years!) of Nathan Detroit, and the lead Dancer at the Hot Box Club. Oh and it's a lead. I have, like, six songs and two or three dances.
This is terrifying. I don't even think I can sing. I totally wasn't expecting a lead role... a largish one, maybe... But a lead? Terror. This is my punishment for demanding the biggest role they had. People, I was kidding!!!
anyway, I guess I'll have to get over it. Suck it up you big baby!!!
It does help that the cast and backstage are such cool cats. They are a fantastic bunch of people and I can't wait to get to know them. And I guess I will pretty well, because we will be spending a lot of time together, time that looks to involve a lot of drinking. And, apparently, hackysack.
I'm not too sure about the hackysack.
